MADISON, WI (WTAQ-WRN) — Calling it his way of fulfilling a campaign promise, Governor Tony Evers kicked off his 2024 “pothole patrol tour” on a street in Stevens Point on Monday.
Evers says residents can expect more roadwork like this wherever they travel thanks to last year’s increase in shared revenue.
“Safe roads are really important for all sorts of reasons, including people getting into work every day,” said Governor Evers. “But it’s also important for our economy and our safety.”
Evers says he also uses the Pothole Patrol tour to raise awareness about work zone safety.
Nine people were killed in work zone accidents in Wisconsin last year.
